liquid lightning portraits
These large scale oil paintings will be portraits of us as individuals and as a collective whole through the lens of water. I have many series of images which offer different portals into new understandings of what it is to be a human on this planet, and what else is possible. Water reveals our interconnectedness in a way that nothing else does, capturing the fluid and ever changing essence of life coursing through it.
By arresting a moment digitally and then interpreting the
moment into oil, the transcendent complexity of every moment we live is brought to light, as is the revelation of our hand in shaping it.
By arresing a moment digitally and then illluminating it from within, viewers are invited to contemplate our relationship with technology, and how we depend on it to see.
Each piece is meant to become a meditation, slowing down time and inviting the viewer into active participation with the pieces and with their lives.

future myth
These sketches will join Athena Reborn,
becoming large scale oil paintings (5x8 feet)
that explore modern day mythology,
awakening us to the forces pushing
and pulling us so we can more
consciously choose how we wish
to construct the future. Drawing
on the wisdom of the past but letting
it take on new life, as we create new
origin stories for the next phase of
human growth.
the whale and guernica
This project is a documentary film culminating in the creation of an enormous oil painting focused on humanity's relationship with life in the Ocean. The documentary will follow Morgan's journey facing his fear of the deep open ocean as he gets scuba certified and ultimately swims with humpback whales.
The painting is inspired by marine science, dream, mythology, a profound affinity for aquatic life and especially humpback whales. The scale of the painting will be 11.5' x 25.5' which is the same size as Picasso's Guernica.
Picassso painted this piece in response to Franco granting Hitler permission to engage in the first carpet bombing of a city in world history. Without any of our permission fishermen are dragging nets across invisible landscapes leaving decimation below the waves, naval ships are bombarding the sonic scape of the ocean with sonar in their war games deafening animals who use sound to navigate, the absorption of excess carbon in the atmosphere is leading to catastrophic levels of acidification writ large in the oceans. We are blindly carpet bombing the ocean and trusting in its vastness to absorb our unconsciousness.
The documentary will weave interviews with marine scientists, fishermen, possibly ex naval officers, with travel to Spain to visit Guernica the painting in Madrid as well as Guernica the mountain village in the north. We will have a window into the world of scuba diving arriving in Tonga to swim with humpback whales. Throughout, the process of procuring the space and essential partnerships to both produce and display the painting will be building as well as the process of devising and painting this enormous piece.
